you can easily replace the oil with applesauce or mashed banana. Pass me a plate with extra butter and agave nector, please

If it's just a question of being out of oil, you can substitute melted butter or margarine. The liquid oil is probably more polyunsaturated (or has the good fat and not the bad fat, or however they describe it these days), so it is generally considered healthier. I say if you're going to put butter and syrup on them anyway, it scarcely matters.
