The most efficient way is to thoroughly chill the soup. The fat will solidify on the top. Just scoop it off, heat and eat.

The best way to get excess fat out of soups is to cool it down and refrigerate it. Once it's cold, the fat will harden on the top, and you can easily take it off. Then, when you heat the soup back up, most of the fat (grease) will be gone.


Also, if you don't have time to chill the soup before you eat it, you can also use paper towels. It sounds wierd, yes, but most of the time the grease floats on the surface of the soup. So, if you just barely touch a paper towel to the surface of the soup (being careful not to dip the paper past the very top of the soup... I mean- just BARELY touching) the paper towel will soak up some of the grease off the top. Just repeat the process until you're happy with the results. It works, but it's not as good as chilling it.

There are two ways. Either let the soup go cold and then skim the fat of the top which will rise to the surface.

The other way is to place a slice of bread on the top of the soup while it is still warm but not moving. It will suck up the fat.

Just thought of another way, just try grilling chicken before you put in to the soup or dry frying in to start of the cooking process.

If you don't have a grease mop, then take a thick slice of bread, and gently guide it through the top layer of the soup with a slotted spoon. The bread will soak up the grease. If more grease remains, repeat procedure.

Homemade chicken noodle soup:

6 hours 3 hours prep
12 servings

NOODLES
3 cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons oil
2 eggs
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons water
SOUP
1 whole fresh chicken
1 medium white onion, chopped
3 stalks celery, diced
5 whole carrots, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
3 cans chicken broth
salt and pepper

1. For Noodles: Mix egg, oil, salt, and water together.
2. Add all purpose flour until it becomes a soft dough.
3. Roll dough out on a floured surface to very thin.
4. Let dry for at least 3 hours.
5. Cut into small noodle sized strips.
6. For soup: Cover chicken with water in a large stove top pan.
7. Add chicken broth, carrots, celery, garlic and onions.
8. Boil until chicken is done.
9. Remove chicken and debone.
10. Place chicken back in pot.
11. Add additional water to soup mixture if needed, usually about 4 cups.
12. Bring soup mixture to boil and then add noodles.
13. Boil soup until noodles are soft and ready to eat.
14. Salt and pepper to taste.

Let it cool for a bit and the grease will make a thick layer on top, just scoop that off. If you don't want all that grease, take as much of the skin off as you can prior to cooking.

two ways...
if your soup is still hot and you can't wait, use several layers of paper towel, and 'blot" the fat away.
The best way to get rid of the fat is to cool the soup, then put it into the fridge overnight. In the morning all the fat has hardened and you can just lift it out.

Chill id after cooking and the grease with settle to the top and harden. Then you can just take it off.

you can use a paper towel to skip off the grease if more then that i use a measuring cup,,, if you have time i have put it in the refrig for a while for the grease to get hard and then just pick that off the top

You can make sure you cook the chicken with no skin. While cooking, skim the fat off the top with spoon. But, the best way is actually after it has cooled, the fat turns solid on the top, and then you can scrap that off.
