Inspired words should come from the heart so it's a good think that's needed. That is if it is you that's inviting and paying? Normally the invitations comes from the brides parents if they are paying. Any good printing company will give you a sheet with both formal and informal words you can choose for invitations, if you still want to do your own you could just jazz it up a bit.

Collaborate on it. Both of you go to invitation stores and check some designs and get some ideas along the way. As long as it is something from the heart, then that is what will make it memorable for you and your guests. It doesn't matter how or what others think, but how it reflects what meaning it has in your heart. I have been shooting weddings for number of years and have seen some really nice invitations. Some sounded really corny but it had substance since it meant something more to the couple than anything else. That's what made it memorable for them and their guests. It stood out because of that.

Good luck.

I have just done my own invitations on my PC. I got a Personalise your own Stationary CD-Rom from Marks and Spencer. It cost £5 and you get a box of ten invitations with it. There are different formats and fonts on the CD just pick which one you want to use and fill all the details in ic Names, Venue Date etc. Fool proof and saved me a bomb.

We're hosting the day ourselves so we are going for something like this

Mr A and Ms B request the pleasure of your company to celebrate our marriage.

Then add the date, time and venue

Then add your RSVP address and date by which all RSVP's should be sent.
