Clips from DVD...?

Is it possible to put a DVD into my drive and rip say a 5min clip from it of something I want? If so, how?

It takes special software. Xilisoft makes one and you can download a trial version of it for free. Do a google search for xilisoft or dvd to .mov coversion and it should come up.
