Well, someone would want to put it into a museum. The Christians, Muslims, and Jews would fight over which religion it really belongs to and which country that it should reside in. All three religions would start fighting over it, and lastly, Bush would send out his troops claiming that the Ark of the covenant was really a weapon of mass destruction put there by Iran. Basically, it was start WWIII. Let's just hope it stays hidden. :-)

It will not be discovered. Even if someone says they found it, it will not be it. The books that were omitted from the Protestant Bible are very important. If they would actually read these they might find out some things. Things like what happened to the Ark of the Covenant. But, were you speaking of Noah's Ark?

Over the years many mystical and religious artifacts have been unearthed. They tend to cause a shudder for a bit but then die out fairly quickly as more exciting news stories take over. If the seal on the Ark is unbroken then the 10 Commandments it is supposed to contain may well be intact, which would be fascinating for archeologists & linguists alike. Sadly though I imagine people would set out to discredit the find (remember the number of people who hotly debated the validity of the Turin Shroud when it was found?) because at heart we Westerners are pretty cynical.

It would be an interesting historical artifact, and would offer further proof of the validity of the Bible. But as God's spirit departed from the ark even before the time of Jesus, in the book of Ezekiel, it would have no power and not do anything special.

Who says it hasn't been?

In the time of Christ the Ark was not in the Temple. If the Ark were back in the Temple it would signify the rise of the apocalypse.

Good news for an Israeli museum somewhere. However, if it doesn't have Nazi-busting angels popping out of it, I'll be VERY disappointed...
