That happens because we´re not only brains, we have also got emotions, and they usually get in the way and often make us do stupid things.

Just because you scored high on the test does not mean you can apply that wisdom to your life. You may know how to deal with certain situations on paper or virtual but when a situation arrives in your life you either draw a blank or go for whatever it is you want wether it be the wise choice or not.You are probably a passionate person who may get their feelings hurt easily.Your heart rules your mind unfortunately sometimes you have to really sit and think about things before you do them, for example this girl or guy has a child and you really like them but their is this innocent child in the picture, what happens if things dont work out and you miss this little person your hurt kinda like twice and what about the little person they might be hurt to things like that you have to try and see every aspect of the situation or thought before you act or speak. This is hard but I always tell my friends close you r mouth and open your eyes and ears listen and watch you will learn more. Also age and life expeirience has a lot to do with this,I never thought I would say that but I think that its not a mistake if you learn from it ....it becomes experience,a life lesson never forget .I hope this helps you.

**Raises her hand from a corner in the back of the room and says "Hi, my name is Papeversomniferum and I am an intelligent idiot."

It happens mostly to those who are intelligent but with problems emotionally.

If you are raised in an abusive environment, it is very possible to be a genius but with very shaky emotional processing. There is a difference between emotional intelligence and actual intelligence and there is even another test for spatial intelligence.

I have a rather high IQ, but I do tend to be an emotional retard at times... But I am aware of it at least and working on it every day.
Spatial intelligence is also very high and spiritual intuitiveness is also high up there on the charts...

You are not alone...

Maybe we should start a club? Instead of Mensa... We can be the Men-tals?

IQ and EQ are different. IQ refers to off-line analysis, mathematical and logical skills etc. EQ is the ability to understand your own and other's emotions. A computer may be highly logical but will be completely emotional. In real life, we need both IQ and EQ to make good decisions. But I would advise you not to worry. Bad decisions are good teachers! You are on a fast track of learning from life!

you can have an incredibly high IQ but your emotional state of being and your common sense in life may not go hand in hand with your intelligence. It happens to many people. In my opinion, the majority of people! When it comes to making life decisions we don't always rationalize them the way that we should. A lot of times we act impulsively or we go with our feelings.

If we broke down our decisions in life they we do linear equations in Alegebra life would be so much easier!

Intelligence doesn't mean someone will make good decisions. Most decisions are made by using emotions. Sure, there is some reasoning going into those decisions, but in the end, our decisions are usually made by how we feel about the options.

This is not to say I think this is you. Many people make poor decisions form time to time. However, there are also people who never seem to be able to learn from their mistakes, & go on to repeatedly repeat wimilar mistakes they should have been able to avoid. This is because either the part of the brain that governs adult reasoning never grew, or, never got hooked up correctly. I'm not talking about people who really don't care or try. Although they are often so labelled & come to believe the label, I'm refering to those who --for whatever reason-- have brain damage, often --but not always-- occuring before birth. There are multiple possible causes, ONE of which becoming better known is alcohol damage to the unborn ...

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder

There is much more info on how such damage affects Babies & Young Children, but in the past few years/months, more has been written regarding how it effects a person's ability to cope with life as Adults -- "life skills'.

Teresa Kellerman has written (& displays) several fine articles on this subject, on her Web site. It isn't .org, or .edu, & to avoid being reported for not following guidelines, I'll email their links to you via Yahoo! Answers, at your express request.

Don't even think about brain damage, that's absolute rubbish. All it means is that your heart rules your head instead of the other way round. IQ doesn't really count for much in day to day living, it's the way you feel that counts. We all make mistakes, but often learn by them.

Being intelligent high IQ, provides you with more and better solutions. But it's like multiple choices, it's not your IQ that help you to choose the good one, it's your EQ.

There's a difference in "book smarts" and common sense. I can't explain why it happens, but I'm in the same boat. I'm highly intelligent but I've made some really stupid decisions in my life.

Maybe it's because, some of us are wired to make decisions with our heart, and some of us with our head. No matter how smart we are, if we're led to make decisions with our heart, a lot of times we don't listen to the logical and smart side of ourselves.. . . .
