I had vaginal delivery with all of my children and 4 weeks after my youngest was born they did the surgery.
They it laperascopically, or through the belly button, when not done during a c-section. However, this is permanent to have it done...make sure, VERY SURE, this is what you want!
Also, doctor's vary, some do it the next day, others do it during a day surgery. Either way, it gets done, but it's how the doctor and insurance want it done.
If you are on State Medicaid, it's generally 4 weeks after birth...Some again, do it while you are in the hospital, others make you wait 6 weeks. It's what your insurance will pay for and how.

No you dont have to have a C-Section to have a tubal done. Tell your doctor that you want the tubal done after the baby arrives, and they will schedule it around when your baby comes. Lots of women have them within a day from the delivery of their baby. Its just easier to do it when they are already in there doing the C-Section, but its not necessary!
Best of Luck & congrats on the upcoming baby!

You do not have to have a c section to get a tubal litigation and the incision will be much smaller. Make sure you are not giving birth in a Catholic (Saint Anything) hospital. They do not perform tubals for religious reasons.

Good luck with your decision!

No.. if you are having one already then they can do it easier, but it can still be done just fine after having a child vaginally... If you don't need a c-section, then don't have one... Trust me.. it is painful..... it is a major surgery.... that can have many complications.. you would be much safer if you didn't have to have one (a c-section).. less recovery time, less risk, and less pain...... But to answer your question again.. No.....

NO... They go through the birth canal for the procedure.
C-sections are very serious surgeries.. High risk problems.. so if they can avoid one they will.

I am getting my tubes tied after this baby and my doctor told me all I have to do is get an epidural. She said I can still deliver vaginally. I would make sure to discuss this with your doctor as soon as possible so you can work out any details.

Not if my wife is any guide. She had 6 vaginal deliveries before getting her tubes tied. No complications at all.

Yes, she had an epidermal.
