Most flights begin with "pre-boarding", which typically includes elite frequent fliers, passengers with disabilities, first-class travelers, and parents with small children. After that the majority of airlines board from the rear of the aircraft, so people in high-numbered rows board before those in low-numbered rows. Deplaning is the opposite, with those in front leaving the plane first. A few airlines are experimenting with boarding people in window seats first, followed by those in the center or on the aisle.
