At about 6 weeks it is safe to start giving them dry food, kitten formula for proper nutrition, and maybe put a lil water on it to soften it the first couple of days. At about 8 weeks you can depart them from their mother. At about six weeks, if they are not already learning from mom, you will want to start the litter training as well.

Around 6-7 weeks.

The cats I've had have weaned the kittens themselves. If the food's available to the kittens they will get curious. Try to put some water in it to make the food soft. We had a kitten choke once and that was scary!

They should be ready for adoption around 8 weeks. Don't do it much earlier than that or they may have problems knowing when they are being too rowdy with others. I say 6 at the earliest, but that's still pretty early.

Food introduction should begin at 3-4 weeks using a high quality kitten growth food. By mixing the food with warm water or making it into a slurry will make it easy for them to eat. Encourage them to eat the food by either placing their paws in it, smearing some on their lips, or by directly putting a small amount into their mouths. This food should be left out for them so they have free choice. Still allow them to nurse. COMPLETE WEANING SHOULD NOT START BEFORE 6 WEEKS. When ready to start weaning, the mother should be separated from the kittens the day before weaning. The kittens should be fed their kitten diet and food should be withheld from the mother but still provide water. Reunite the kittens with their mother overnight so they can nurse to drain the mammary glands. Food should only be withheld from both the mother AND kittens overnight. The next morning the kittens are removed from the mother and should be fully put on a high quality kitten growth food. Once they are weaned and are proven to be healthy by a veterinarian they're ready for adoption. The mother should also be eating the kitten food until the kittens have been weaned.

The mother would know when to wean them but it is normally 6-8 weeks. And that would be the time to adopt them when they are weaned.
Let the momma cat do it naturally for it is for the best. When she hisses, bites or strikes them when they try to nurse that is a signal to adopt them out. It helps when you start feeding them kitten food around that time.

It is better to wait until after 8 weeks, and let the kitten play with his brothers and sisters until then, because that helps its social behaviour. My cat lost his mother and brothers when he was too young (about 6 weeks), and although he really loves me for saving him, he can't tolerate any other animal and he is quite aggressive towards other people too.

Between 6 & 8 weeks. Any earlier and you may cause separation anxiety and the kitten may not have a strong immune system.

You don't wean a kitten, they wean on their own. Ideal adoption age is 7-8 weeks old.
