i am interested in buying one of the two but still don't know wich one is better. i heard that over 32 inches you shoud go for plasma but then some are saying that plasma has shorter life line and the screen starts shading off... so which one is best for 42 inces and why??

If you both have a good quality unit, both will last exactly the same.

Cost to cost basis plasma is cheaper. The probs of image burning has almost been completely dealt with so. as I think U said. for <37 wud go for LCD. For larger screens still plasma has good value for money as after this the LCD get way expensive vs a plasma. If U get a chance read a 1 page brief summary of the 2 incl the cost changes in the Jan Fortune magazine.

You heard correct on Life of LCD, and the only advantage of plasma is a better picture in the light. An average person would not see the difference., so its not that important. The size again, is not that great a difference., only the cost. If you buy, make sure you buy the high end connections and if you have more than one component hooking up, you may want help, as organization of components (DVD-VHS-stereo etc.) is important and greatly justifies the cost..
