My cat is acting normal, eating & all. but he is getting a bald spot on his throat, under his chin. it isn't red or nasty looking or smelly or anything, it almost looks shaved. it was a tiny spot last week, as of Saturday it got bigger. I'm not sure if he could be licking it raw because of the location, should I be worried? Maybe let it go for a few more days to see if it gets worse or he starts acting differently? Anyone know what this could be?

There's the possibility it's ringworm, skin allergies, or another skin disease. Have your vet take a look and depending on what they find they'll be able to provide you with the proper treatment. Below is a link about ringworm so you can look to see if this spot is similar to ringworm symptoms. Hope this helps!

My cat gets bald spots all the time. It's usually on top of her head or like your cat, on her neck. It doesn't seem to itch or bother her in any way....sounds like the same thing is happening to your cat. I took her to the vet and they took cultures for ringworm but it wasn't that and they couldn't really tell me what it was. With my cat, her hair grows back and then a month or two later she'll get another one. You might want to take your little baby to the vet just to make sure, but I don't think it's too worrisome. Good luck!

It doesn't sound like it is anything to worry about yet. Keep an eye on it for redness or discoloration. If it becomes raw or continues to get bigger over the next 48 hours, then I would see a vet. It could be an allergic reaction to something.

He is probably scratching at it because of where it is. Check the area really carefully for any marks, ticks, scratches etc. If you find nothing then leave it for a bit, it is probably nothing serious. But if it persists go to the vet, cats will scratch the fur off their stomachs when they have a tummy ache, and the fur off their bums when they have worms. Keep an eye on your cat too and see if you can catch him scratching at it, and when does maybe you will be able to observe something helpful like exactly where he is aiming for, whether he seems to be agitated or in pain when he does it etc.

My kitty had the same exact thing on his ear. It was a little circular patch on the back of his ear that had no hair. Just like you described, it wasn't red or raw or anything like that. I just kept a close eye on it to see if there are any changes. If it looks good color-wise and it doesn't seem to be hurting him, then I wouldn't panic. Just keep doing what your doing and take him to the vet if there are any changes.

The hair eventually does grow back!

The best thing to do is take your cat to the vet.

Sounds like it could be ringworm.
