Stop panicking. You're not dying from a fatty liver. Fatty livers, also known as NASH can be treated. Many Doctors still do not make the link between the traditional western diet and fatty liver. Many simply brush over the condition, telling patients there is nothing that can be done and that it will simply be ‘monitored’. Meanwhile the condition gets worse and worse as the functional liver tissue slowly gets replaced by fat over the years. If left unchecked, a severe inflamed fatty liver can lead to scarring of the liver tissue (cirrhosis).
The body needs to be provided with the correct nutrients required by the metabolic and detoxification pathways to effectively improve the liver function. This needs to be a combination of correct eating principles that should be followed generally as a way of life and the correct supplementation to give the liver/thyroid etc what it needs and nothing that it doesn't need as these 'extras' will only weigh it down even more.
The liver is capable of regenerating itself when it is supplied with proper nutrients and taken care of. That means eliminating substances that can harm it and feeding it the nutrients that help it. You need to learn about the foods you can eat and those you can't. I suggest you do a search for "fatty Liver" and learn what can be done about it.
If you doctor is not providing the care you need, then find another doctor...SOON.

Didn't your doctor tell you what could be done to help the problem? If not, if you lost the 20 pounds; it would have to help things. 20 pounds isn't much to loose. Be glad it's not 100. Mildly fatty liver is probably not much to worry about or the doctor would have told you more. You wouldn't want it to get worse. I'd just try to loose as much of the 20 pounds as I could. It's easier to loose a little than for it to get out of hand and be a really big problem. Good luck.

I have just recovered from a bad accident in wich my liver was almost destroyed. The best thing for you to do is get to your local fruit strore and eat lots and i mean lots of berries, stay away from blue berries you don't want to spend your time going to the bathroom..eat raspberries and black berries..if you eat alteast two cups everyday of these mixed berries within a few weeks you will see the liver getting healthy again.and also talk to your local healthfood store for teas you may be able to drink or other natural intioxydants ..
