Who say the soul was immortal, I didn't. You try to bring in a topic, without seeing the whole picture. Why don't you keep reading. You quote Eze.18:4, But you fail to quote Eze.18:9. The wicked soul will be cast into a lake of fire at the end of the millennium to be destryed, Not to live forever, But to be annilated, you can find that in Rev. chapter 20. Now if you had read Eze. 18:9 you will see where it says the soul that walk in the statutes of God shall live. Never think the soul is immortal, When the Dead in Christ shall rise, we will put on immortality in our flesh, & our soul will then live forever with out end. But the wicked dead is resurrected after the millennium & they are raised still Mortal, & their body & soul will be cast into the lake of fire. To be destroyed. See, there is a difference.

Man is made up of spirit, soul and body. The soul consists of the mind, the will and the emotions. The spirit is the immortal part of man. The death of a sinner brings about his eternal separation from God and he being cast into the lake of fire. Only those who believe in Jesus and are saved are resurrected and given heavenly bodies to live eternally. Even sinners who do not know Jesus will all be resurrected in their bodies to face eternal judgement for punishment before the great white throne of Jesus Christ. Resurrection applies to Christains and unbelievers alike, Christians for reward and unbelievers for punishment for their sins.

The data that the soul dies is overwhelming. those that carry onto pagan notions of a soul that lives on after lack of existence might want to, by decision, proceed to be unaware of each of the data round them. I did note that one individual posting the following helps the 'immortal' soul preparation yet speaks about someone thrown into the lake of sulfur as ceasing to exist. it truly is what the Bible teaches. yet that individual is at odds with many different individuals of Christendom who trust that someone's' torment is eternal at the same time as in hell or Gehenna. outstanding ot see some coming round to a correct expertise of a few issues.

Death means separation. See James 2:26
The soul that sins will be separated from God.
Rom 6:23
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

I sure am glad the but is in this verse. Jesus Gave me a free Gift

Soul is immortal. ressurrection is neccessary because when man sinned he was instructed that from the ground he came from and he shall therefore return to the ground, meaning that man became mortal since he corrupted his body. Therefore Jesus came to die and rose again for the redemption of mankind. Resurrection is neccessary for the man to bear incorruptable body through which he will live forever.

You are right the Bible never teaches that the soul is immortal.
If you note even from the beginning it says that Adam BECAME a living soul, not that he was given one. We read in Genesis 2:7 - "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."
What was Adam before that? He did not exist. What did God tell him would happen if he disobeyed? Did he tell him he would go somewhere and be alive and tortured forever? We read in Genesis 2:17 - "But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."
That was the sentence passed on Adam and Eve according to Genesis 3:19 - "In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return."
All through the Bible we see death and destruction contrasted with life; we do not see see in bliss contrasted with life in torture.
Note John 3:16; Romans 6:23, and others.

From there Elisha went up to Bethel. While he was on his way, some small boys came out of the city and jeered at him. "Go up baldhead," they shouted, "go up baldhead!" The prophet turned and saw them, and he cursed them in the name of the Lord. Then two shebears came out of the woods and tore forty two of the children to pieces. (2 Kings 2:23-24 NAB)
