"But CBS News correspondent Mark Philips reports that, although archeologists have long argued over the factual and historic accuracy of Christianity's version of history, in this case, the archeological establishment has lined up to label this claim as bunk.

Church officials have, predictably, dismissed the documentary's claims as nonsensical and baseless. "

"It has nothing whatsoever to do with Jesus, he was known as Jesus of Nazareth, not Jesus of Jerusalem, and if the family was wealthy enough to afford a tomb, which they probably weren't, it would have been in Nazareth, not here in Jerusalem," he said.

Filmmaker James Cameron is claiming he and some archeologists found the tomb of Jesus’s family. All the casket-like things called ossuaries are empty. I wonder what the archeologists were thinking when they found an ossuary with Jesus’s name on it. I can imagine the moment they removed the lid and looked in. If it were me, I’d wonder if I was going to see one of the following:

1. Nothing
2. Decomposed stuff
3. Jesus sitting up and saying, “What in Dad’s name took you so long?”

If you put an ordinary guy in an ossuary for 2,000 years, he’d clearly be dead. But if I were opening that ossuary I’d be wondering if maybe someone put Jesus in there after he died but before he arose. And maybe it’s hard to get out once you get in. I’d be worried that Jesus arose inside the stone box, and he’d be totally pissed that no one let him out until now.

I realize that this would not be the most rational worry in the world. But I like to base my worries on an expected value calculation. So for example, a 90% chance of getting a sliver would worry me about the same as a .000001% chance of a nuclear bomb going off in the backyard. In this ossuary example, I’d be looking at maybe a 2% chance of waking up an angry Jesus. I say that’s worth a worry.

If Jesus was in there, and sat up when I took the lid off, I’d first try to judge how angry he looked. If he had that money-changers-in-the-temple look, I’d go with a joke, like “Ha ha! Turn the other cheek!” Or maybe I’d try to explain to him that the extra suffering was extra good for humanity, and after all, that’s his job. Then I’d say, “Hey, I don’t like my job either, but you don’t see me complaining all the time.”

I know that some of you will say that if Jesus could move that big rock that was allegedly in front of his tomb in the traditional telling of his life, he’d have no trouble removing an ossuary lid. But he wasn’t supposed to be in an ossuary in the first place, so obviously if this ossuary is genuine, some of the details of the story were wrong. And if God let Jesus be crucified, it’s not a huge stretch of the imagination to think he’d let him stay in a stone box for 2,000 years. It makes sense to save your coolest miracle for when it’s needed most. And I think you’ll agree that this would be a good time for a messiah. And if you were God, you’d want James Cameron attached to this production. So it makes sense to me.

That’s why I’d be a crappy archeologist. I’d be afraid to open anything.

No archeolagist agrees with the findings. The first person to push this idea is up for fraud charges for tampering with the evidence.
The claimed bones of Jesus where studied by forensic sciences and found no evidence of crucifixion or a spear to the ribs.

Nazereth did exist at the time it was known as Kfar HaHoresh, renamed by early christians around 70AD. Jesus was known as Jesus the Nazarene, Nazarene or Nazarite means "separated Jew who had taken a vow of holiness". There is no proof Jesus was from Nazereth.

However these Jewish film makers have decided to go ahead with this story to try debunk christianity without any scientific evidence what so ever. They are asking you to have "faith" in thier Interrpritation of the site.

Strange that scientist are asking for you to have faith and religion is asking you to look at the scientific evidence.

Hmm all this talk and claims, look at the evidence, very slim it does no add up at all. Jesus changed character 100%???this isn't a soapie.... or that the disciples died for a lie except one, men who lived for integrity and truth or life had no meaning Oh, None of what he said was of Hindu origin the essence of him was not found in Kasmir The character up the mountains in Kashmir bears no resemblance to a first century rabbinic Jew at all. Jesus was flogged to the bone if the physiological shock did not kill him a professional Roman solider, ordered to make sure of death prior to releasing the body does not miss the mark on pain of death,( his death if he failed to pierce the side of Christ)..what came out?? blood and water heart had stopped to get that separation; in fact it had ruptured literally broken ...try coming back from that. Then there is the Roman soldiers guarding Jesus tomb why on pain of a really horrible death did they leave their posts?? .

Read the book ! The tomb where Jesus was laid to rest was a gift...Archeologists can choose to believe or disbelieve. They can't prove or disprove a thing ....I'll take the word of the witnesses to Jesus 's ressurection as all the PROOF I need . You make your own choice .

He ROSE from that tomb- so therefore false. The Bible said that people down through the ages would do anything to dispute that Jesus rose from the tomb- however these people pass away, the world will pass away but the Word of God will last forever. So no matter what the press conference will say, or that documentary will say on sunday- I celebrate the Risen Savior- HE BODY IS NO LONGER THERE!! End of dispute for me.

Jesus rose from the dead and is seated at the right hand of the Father. His body is not in the tomb--his bones are not there.

I find it interesting that after 2000 years--the 'scientists' have a DNA sample from the Holy Family to compare and 'prove' their claim!

Hey you obviously don't know much about True archeological history. First off Nazareth did not exist during the time of Jesus so therefore he could not have been from there. Secondly Jesus was a King, a decendant of David so he had money. the portriat portrayed of him in the bible is not historically accurate. Many many biblical scholars would agree with me on that one.

Has the tomb of Jesus Christ been found?

Since the 1970s, hundreds of tombs and thousands of ossuaries (limestone bone boxes) have been discovered in the Jerusalem area. These ossuaries served as coffins in first-century Jerusalem.

One of these tombs was found to contain ten ossuaries. Six of the ossuaries in this tomb have inscriptions on them. As it turns out, every inscription in this particular tomb relates to the Gospels.

Interesting what is out there!

Which Tomb are you referring to?

Christ complex (also superiority complex) is a psychological term used loosely to describe any individual mentally fixed on superiority or the claim of being a savior. There are many types of disorders in which the Christ complex comes into play. The extreme example is a psychopath: Someone who comes to operate without any regard for other humans.

This term is used by psychologists in referring also to people who feel a compulsion to try to save other human beings. i.e. attracted to single women with children who have been abused or distressed in an attempt to "save" them from their current lifestyle.
