I'm a good guy, I pay my premium on time and have been loyal to them. I was rammed by two yobs, who then drove away hitting three other cars eventually abandoning it a short distance away. My partner and her eleven year old daughter were injured. The nearside wheel arch and headlight, indicator housing was wrecked making it virtually undrivable.

Why am I then nine days later, still answering the same questions to the same people, still waiting to have my car examined. Now to cap it all, they're saying I may have to pay for all the damage because the other car was stolen and they need to redeem their losses!! What is the point of car insurance when they dont give you the protection they promise? I must be thick or something. Help!!!..............cracking up.

If you carry physical damage on your car (comp and collision) your company has to pay. However, the other car is the one that is liable, and should be the primary payer. If your company pays, they will subrogate to get the money back that they paid out to fix your car from the other party that is at fault. Call them every day, twice a day, and they will get something done. If not, file a complaint with the state insurance commissioner's office. But, if you only carry liability insurance, you may be screwed if the other car was stolen. Good luck.

If you have collision coverage your company will pay the damages to your vehicle and you will pay your deductible.
If a vehicle is stolen there is no liability coverage on it.

Think about it this way, if someone stole your car and did damage to other vehicles would you want your company to pay for damages that you didn't do? You wouldn't and the insurance company isn't going to .

If you only have liability coverage on your vehicle then, unfortunately, you will get stuck with the cost to have your vehicle fixed.

Accidents are stressful and frustrating. Your insurance company has to check out the situation before they can do anything for you. Give them another call and ask them for the status on your claim.

Insurance companies always do this. Even if the other driver is completely guilty with no doubt your insurance company will do their best to minimize what they have to pay. They may even raise your rates or drop you completely.

If you're fully comp they HAVE to pay! If they can't recover the cost then they put it as an own fault accident on you. I had the same thing the tosser who had no insurance got away SCOT free. Have a look here

If you have fully comprehensive cover, your insurance company will pay for the damage and you will have to pay your excess.

If you only have third party cover, you will be responsible for the damage.
