If you are feeling a burning pain in just your stomach and not in your esophagus, I would question whether the pain is from heartburn. It could be that you have an ulcer. I would see the Dr to make a proper diagnosis.
Heartburn Relief: Food Facts
Though heartburn triggers can vary from person to person, certain food and drinks are more prone to allowing stomach acid to splash up into your esophagus, including:
Meats. Ground beef, marbled sirloin, chicken nugget-style, and chicken/buffalo wings.
Fats, Oils & Sweets. Chocolate, regular corn and potato chips, high-fat butter cookies, brownies, doughnuts, creamy and oily salad dressings, fried or fatty food in general.
Fruits, Vegetables & Juice. Orange juice, lemon, lemonade, grapefruit juice, cranberry juice, tomato, mashed potatoes, French fries, raw onion, potato salad.
Other Beverages. Liquor, wine, coffee, and tea.
Grains. Macaroni and cheese, spaghetti with marinara sauce.
Dairy. Sour cream, milk shake, ice cream, regular cottage cheese.
Foods and beverages like these contribute to heartburn (and the more serious GERDGERD) by lessening the effectiveness of the LES to keep stomach contents in the stomach. Smoking also plays a large role, and carbonated beverages should be added to the list as they can put pressure on the stomach, forcing stomach acid back up into the esophagus.
Avoid the foods and beverages above -- and eat smaller meals -- and you may decrease the amount of reflux from your stomach into the esophagus.

Mustard is good and also baking soda. Just take about one tablespoon of mustard, or put a teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of warm water and drink it. These two are just home remedies, in the event you can not get to the store to buy an antacid. If it lingers see a doctor for a prescription and an evaluation. It can become severe, where it seem like you are having heart problems, when you lie down. I was hospitalized for three days last week with heartburn, and felt like heart problem.

for Heart burning numerous reasons are available.
It may br the starting stage of ulcer.
Even in dis-orders like hernia is also resposible for heart burn
The most important thing to follow is quit smoking (i too have to) or otherwise avoid smoking before going to bed & in empty stomach (ie morning) since it is more affecting to body.
& generally avoid spicy 7 oily food & eating at time of correct amount fodd can solve the problebut only a consultation with physician is the best solution.

Saved by grace pretty much spelled it out for you. Besides changing your diet and laying off the cigs, you can try some over the counter meds like tagamet, prilosec, or pepcid daily. Then use tums or mylanta for the flare ups. Stay away from motrin or aleve they are bad for the stomach.

If you are eating acidic foods or consuming caffeine, eliminate those and see what happens. If that doesn't help you might need to see the doctor for acid blocking medication.

I reduced the amount of food I was eating at the evening meal and haven't had heartburn or acid reflux since.

try adding up more ginger in ur cookings... it might help.... or u may try getting a ginger beer drink after meals... it might help abit.
