Hi,
While this has no relevance to Christ's ascension, and the information is alittle sensational, the analysis is only speculative. We're 2006 years removed from the miniscule information given and someone's analysis should be subject to other things already known. Interestingly, there were more documents written at that time referencing Jesus than there has been of Julius Ceasar. The numerous writers of the books in the Bible were eye-witnesses. One justification for faith in Christ is the varied and detailed prophecies given from different writers in different places about Christ which all came to pass. I don't have the number, but they say they odds of the hundreds coming to pass are so remote as to be mathematically impossible by chance. The other justification is that of the impeccible integrity of the writers in the Bible. They held to universally pure and noble standards which have guided the whole world. While the failings of many were recorded they dealt with their sins honestly and humbly. There are no other references nor religions that have such justifiable and enduring standards.
I would recommend one commit themself to know and be grounded in these truths first before one dabbles in a game of speculation.
I hope this helps.

Even if he was in a borrowed tomb, the osuary specifically identifies Jesus son of Joseph (jesus was common, joseph not so). It also references this same Jesus on "Judah, son of Jesus" and, "Mariama" which is the proper name of Mary Magdalene, and is also a somewhat less common name.
No archeologist denies this is a genuine tomb or that the osuaries are genuine. Now it goes to the statisticians to see what the chances of this particular confluence of names, from an early first century tomb, are [early estimates range from 1 in 100 to 1 in 1,000,000 ... so 99% or higher that this is in fact the family of Jesus of Nazareth].
I'm waiting to see the results of the paleoDNA studies from the forensic human remains myself. I'm hoping that the three osuaries contain sufficient human residue to determine the relationships between Jesus son of Joseph, Mariama, and Judah.
Of course, I think it's funny how many Christians are already condemning this when the Messiah was prophecied to have a family, including a wife and at least one child, and to die a regular death. Jesus being found in a tomb with a wife and children would be MORE support for his having been Messiah than it would proof against it.

The only problem to their elaborate hoax is that the original Jewish professor who worked on the site, Amos Kloner, has already come forward to expose the claims as sheer nonsense.
"It's a beautiful story but without any proof whatsoever," Professor Amos Kloner, who had published the findings of his research in the Israeli periodical Atigot in 1996.
Apparently, Cameron & Jacobovici have also, as with any elaborate hoax, some "evidence" by "world-renowned archeologists, statisticians and DNA specialists." I can hardly see how a DNA test would help. As with the "world-renowned archeologists," I would see why a second-hand archeologist would compromise his scholarship to make a buck.
Such fantasies, like Dan Brown's, appeal to people for many reasons. One of them, which the authors of the hoax presuppose, is ignorance on the subject.

I honestly do not believe that the tomb belongs to Jesus. However, if there's something I have learned in all my years of study is that - everything is possible.

Yes, they think they have.
But archaeologists have also found the tomb of Caiaphas the Pharisee that was high priest that had Jesus arrested.

This "they" includes James Cameron, director of the Titanic and the Terminator.
The chief archaeologist of Israel has said that the probability of this being THE Jesus is almost nil.

They claim it's Jesus, Mary, Mary Magdalene and several others. Of course, even if they were able to prove it, christians will not believe that he didn't resurrect. So, I'm not sure what good this is going to accomplish.
