I have a 1000watt JBL sub and about a 250watt sony xplod amp, is there anyway of increasing the power of the amp without buying a new one? I brought it second hand so i dont mind taking it apart... Its just that the sub isnt kicking much out, it was all professionally installed by halfords and the bloke told me before he put it in that the amp werent going to be powerful enuff. So is there a fuse or sumin i can take out to increase watts or sumin.

thanks all.

Jeff is ritght. and Sony amps are known for frying if you try to abuse them. if i were you i'd get a more high quality amp from Kenwood Excelon. heres a link where you can find tons of good amps for cheap.

don't be stupid with your cars electrical system, you need to know the RMS of your sub not the peak, the peak wattage is nothing more than the biggest number they can put on the sub and customers that don't know better will buy it bcuz it has "more power" which isn't true*** Always go by RMS ***, then whatever that number is get an amp that pushes that much RMS or less,NEVER MORE. Lets do a quick reality check here, where does your amp sit....? in your trunk. whats under your trunk?.... Gas tank... what happens when your amp blows sparks and lights something in your trunk on fire?....... yeah... not pretty don't try to take it apart. Go to circuit city or best buy, and get a decent amp and you'll be happy

just get a smaller sub. I know that sounds silly but if you want to get more bang for you buck just get a smaller sub. you are going to get more thump just because the amp will be able to handle it . if not just buy a bigger amp. whatever you do.... don't go messing with the power of the amp. remember the company gave it to you the way they found it safe don't change that.

No, you can't do that without frying the amp. Turning up the gain (if possible on your amp) will increase power, but it will likely overheat & maybe even cause a fire.
