you are addicted to the peceived benefits of smoking dope rather than a physical addiction. Cannabis psychosis (extreme paranoia) is a big risk and you don't have to have been smoking for as long as you would think to develop this. Not to mention the stone-overs the day after a session- smoking dope every now and then is not so bad for you if you are to compare it to other things but habitual users may find there motor skills not as good (reactions to things e.t.c) and also the paranoia is a *****... sometimes it is nice to have a clear head, get out of bed befoe 12 and get some stuff done... you gets me?

You cannot get physically addicted to marijuana, but you can develop a psychological one. I gave up three years ago after 15 years of enjoyment, and it was the best thing I did. I now have loads of energy, motivation and see the fuller picture of life. Yes, it would be nice on a Friday night, but I'm enjoying being able to get up on a Saturday morning. I sleep a load better, and use other strategies to unwind - go the gym, swim, read.
Yes, there are a load of other addictions that are worse, but an addiction is an addiction, and you can't justify your actions by comparing it to others. Hey, you're only smoking dope, not murdering people!
Give cutting down a go - you'll enjoy the feeling more if it's not the norm and more of a treat. Good luck!

It isn't a physical addiction but you can get a psychological addiction to it, and its the psychological side of addiction thats the worse part of it. after all you always get over the physical withdrawl but the mental side of it and the cravings will be with you forever. They might not be as strong as in the beginning but it will always be in the back of your mind. Once an addict, always an addict. You just have to decide whether your going to be in active addiction or a recovering addict. Every addict in recovery knows thatyou can't pick up any drug again as it will always lead you back to where you were before you started your recovery.

yes it is psychologically addictive. And yes there are worse addictions out there, but most people who smoke pot, smoke cigs so you are killing your lungs. Not to mention risking jail or at least a criminal record for illegal drug use. But most who lived through the 60's were heavy tokers too and they made it. If the only drug you ever use is pot and you don't drive or anything while high you will probably never have and issue besides the lung thing and oxygen tanks are so fashionable right...?

Personally I don`t think that it is addictive, but if you cannot give up smoking it is either because of the tobacco or the weed. My guess is on the tobacco, get a nicotine patch from your doctor. Yes weed is less addictive than some other things, but you don`t really want to be addicted to anything do you?

I think it is all in your head. I used to be a heavy pot smoker myself. When I was 21 I got pregnant and quit. Since he has been born I smoke again almost every night. After all is settled and he is in bed I sit there and take a few hits. 20 minutes later I get a snack cake then smoke a cigarrett and go to bed. Without it I will lay there awake forever. Some days though I don't need it. If I am exhausted when night comes and I know I will fall asleep then I just don't use it. I only use it when I can't get to sleep. I havn't increased my useage at all and I have been doin it this way for 7 years. It's in your head i think.

cigarettes and marijuana are psychologically addicting
crack is physically addicting and messes you up psychologically
for some people they get bored with the marijuana and eventually want a 'bigger better' high and turn to the harder drugs.
I know many, especially guys, say that marijuana makes them paranoid.
I hear a lot of people say well getting high is better than getting drunk but their argument is so useless and stupid because most people who say that are doing BOTH.

canabis is adictive, its a psychological adiction(like foods and sport) not a physical (like alcahol and nicotine)
there are worse addictions than canabis yes, though in many countries its not legal, so the problem lies there. then again, its better to not be adicted to anything at all.
there have been studies into canabis, and results show that longtime users are able to concentrate less and have worse shortterm memory than average.

yes it is addictive, which is why it is still classed as illegal, in fact, if tobacco was being introduced now it would never get past testing and would be a banned substance due to its addictive and health dangers.
