we just spent a few minutes each time we walked passed our birds and said/whistled or sang what we wanted them to learn!
use care, they pick-up EVERYTHING!

Cockatiels do not talk like other Parrots do, as in sounding like a human. They can however learn to whistle tunes. A Tiel will learn quicker if you are the one interacting with it.

I have played the radio all the time for my birds but they learned faster when I will sing the songs or tunes to them. I wouldnt waste my money on music or by tapes when you can teach them yourself.

what you could try is, get a tape recorder and tape yourself whistling a few songs and play it back for them.
