A lot of the verses refer back to the original verse of "loving your neighbor as yourself". Lately no one is interested in following the Bible and would rather follow there own beliefs. I'm a Christian, and I am still working on that one myself. It really is hard to love another human better than yourself, even when they may do more sins than yourself. But, overall, we have no excuse for now following this verse, and God still forgives us. The Bible is a thing in the past, that will last forever. Keep that in mind.

I used to have really good neighbors. But I also lived in a MUCH NICER neighborhood. Now that I'm living on my own, I can't afford that kind of house and the neighbors here are always having TONS of people over at random days of the week, their kids run and scream all around the street (leaving candy wrappers and other trash in my yard!) after their parties I have to watch where I go barefoot because there are always broken beer bottles in the streets...it goes on. There is only one neighbor I like and she is this really nice older lady next door to me. Other than that, they all suck.
Basically I think good neighbors come easier in nicer neighborhoods. There are higher standards as to what is expected and the people living there want to do what they can to KEEP the neighborhood nice.

I guess that when your neighbors started being drug dealers and thieves then people started being a little more cautious who they open up to. I agree, I have three neighbors that I'd help out anytime they need it. Then again there are at least 4 dope dealers in my neighborhood and a couple of coyotes and anything not bolted down gets stolen, so no, I wouldn't just make friends because they live in the same area as you.

It is still out there, people are just too busy in their modern lives to think about such things.
If you want to promote that idea, just do something nice, like opening a door for someone or giving up your seat to a disabled or pregnant person and watch the response they give you.
A look is worth more than a million dollars!

People in general nowadays are rude and disrespectful. People rarely take the time to say please and thank you anymore. I think it has a lot to do with home training or should I say lack of it. I personally am still friends with the people that I used to live next door to for 12 years. I moved away 5 years ago and still keep in contact with them to this day.

I agree and disagree this 50/50
I love neighbour, i love being friendly, helpful and kind.
but what I don't like also, is my privacy to be taken, questioned where I go, what time i come, and followed or heard my argument or happiness with my own husband and family.
So it is 50/50 to share. I am giving, but I am also very private for someone to barg in himself/herself when I have my own boundaries. Some neighbours, friends, relatives don't seem to understand this, and as soon as you give the good smile face to them, they are there even times when you don't want them to be.
so what's the solution to this?

I got lucky...I have the best of neighbors. They have made me feel welcome since the day I moved in. Now I cannot say that they are my best friends - everyone has problems but I know where I run when I'm bored.

I know what you mean. It seems like there's so much anger and hate in the world right now. There's no compassion or love. It makes me sad to see that. Where has our humanity gone and how can we get it back?

In my neighborhood, people don't hang around too long, so it is not really worth it. But, I do not impose or invade their privacy

My neighbors all have gunns and they like to shoot things. I don't love them.
