It allows people to understand each other. Any "One" language would work. English became the International business language because this was the language of the more industrialized nations as a whole. In order to communicate with these nations in business purposes other countries learned English. Today, though English is still considered the language of choice. Corporations utilize multilingual employees as they expand their Corporations into other countries around the world. It is not uncommon for a person in the mainstream of business relations to speak 5 or more languages, but, English is the most used.

English is the primary language in major insustries like Aviation, Banking, Information Technology, and Aerospace to name a few. Besides, it is good business to become bi-lingual - I wish that it wouild be a requirement in America's schools - pick any one that would suit best! Master American English, then another one!

If you want to be successful in a particular country, learn the native language, whatever it is!
