Yes. I've been arrested twice for possessing marijuana and once for participating in an illegal protest.
It was not a good experience at all. Jails are cold and uncomfortable. There is very little to do. You're surrounded by other people whom you can not trust and guards are most unkind.
I definately do not want to go back. I've stopped using marijuana, but I refuse to compromise my principles. If that puts me in a position in which I would have to go back to jail, then I suppose I'm going, but I won't be happy about it.

Yes it is a unsatisfying experience! The cold coffee and week old doughnut for breakfast was a bummer! I was arrested for a public intox and was thrown in with rapists and murders, escape artists, drug dealers,pedofiles,etc...
Most (but not all )people don't want to go to jail. But things happen and jail is the result. I ended up getting 3 D.U.I. convictions in 5 years after that before I got the help I needed! Luckily I didn't kill anyone in the process! .28 bac on the last D.U.I. in 1989.
I now lead a regular life with a great family life. The anti depressants have stopped my need the binge drink daily. I wish someone would have helped me get help sooner!!!!

Ive never been in jail, never been arrested or anything even vaguely like it in fact, but I have this younger brother who describes jail as home and the small amount of time he manages to stay out of jail as his holidays. So it dosent appear to have stopped him wanting to go back in. As for the conditions, he reckons theyre pretty good. He is, by the way, a very, very big man size wise, 6'9" and really well muscled so nobody is likely to be hassling him any time soon.

I recently read that 70% of the people who pull time never go back to jail and that the 30% who do go back commit 70% of the crime.

Never been in jail, but do have a penpal serving a life sentence in CCWF (Central California Women's facility state prison) @ Chowchilla, California.. wasn't her fault, as she had this dodgy b/f (who was a druggie) about 14yrs ago who decided to drop her in it as well when the Police caught up with him for a robbery he did on some woman he worked for while they were on their way to a birthday dinner double date with her sister.
Part of her is glad she's in there, as it means he can no longer threaten to beat or kill her..... while another part of her can't wait to get out 'cos the water supply there is clouded (and undrinkable), the food sucks, her family had practically forgotten about her by the time I answered her penpal advert on http://www.prisonpenpals.com (told me rarely got birthday or christmas cards off them + they couldn't care less if she had a bar of soap to wash her a*s with)........ and she didn't sound too happy when I got a letter off her back in the middle of October, since in the space of a couple of weeks they'd had a lock down after some girl hung herself, and her cellmates found her and took off screaming & crying, which then set everybody else off..... then there was another lock down a few days before she sent the letter after 10 chicks got in a fight.

Yeah, sure have. It was the worst thing I have ever experienced. Thrown in a cage with rapists, murderers, pervs and pirates. Unfortunately, I missed some exams the following morning and ended up failing out of school because of it. Now, I am back home living with my parents in a place called hell. Will die before I go back to the cage. If it is me or him it has got to be me...
