I am getting married at the end of August and i am a glasses wearer. Now i have purchased my dress etc i am in a real quandry about whether to wear my glasses. I could start wearing my contacts now so people get used to seeing my in them before the day (otherwise all they'd think is "where are her glasses?"), but i do feel i look better in glasses generally. However, i think i may regret choosing to wear glasses in future years. Have any other ladies been in this position, what decision did you make and were you happy with it???

I went through a similar situation.
See, I wear both glasses and contacts. I wear my contacts when I go out mostly to hang out. Work and home - glasses. But everyone was use to seeing me change up.
Although my doctor recommended I wear my glasses mostly since they don't irritate my eyes, I wore my contacts at the wedding.
One, pictures! I didn't want to risk the chance of having a glare in my photos just from my glasses.
Two, they were more comfortable. I did't have to worry about them or anything. I could see!

I advise you to do whatever is most comfortable for you. And what "you think" would look best. If you like your glasses, wear them. If you would rather wear your contacts during this wonderful day, go for it!

But I suggest you do whatever makes you feel beautiful. It is your wedding day ya know!

Enjoy and congrats! Hope this helped ya some!

I am a glasses wearer, and decided to wear contacts on my wedding day, because at the time my glasses were not all that great. I don't regret doing that as I know it would have ruined my look at the time. However, now I have gorgeous frames, I love them and they suit me, and I think I may wear mine to get married this time around, maybe. It is really up to you, if you prefer your look with glasses then there is no reason why you should not wear them. Try contacts and see how you get on with them, it can look odd if you are used to wearing specs, but persevere and you will be able to make a more informed choice.

Do exactly what you feel comfortable and best with. Everyone is so different. If you tolerance is find most of the time with contact lenses you could perhaps wear these for the ceremony, pictures etc and later on if your eyes get sore and tired change back to your glasses. Again you say you feel you look better in your glasses so why change what probably is a lovely image?

Glasses can look lovely. They can also cause strange shadows with the camera's flash. For practical purposes, I would say to probably leave them off.

However, ONLY take off the glasses if you're wearing contacts that you are used to. If you just take your glasses off, then you're going to be squinting at the camera. And if you're not used to the contacts, then your eyes are going to be red and scratchy.

Also, don't go out and get contacts just for the wedding. If you're already getting them anyway, fine. If not, wear your glasses. Just tell the photographer to watch for shadows.

I wear glasses and I got married recently too.I thought that I wanted to surprise my groom with contacts for the big day.So I went to my opthamologist, got my eye exam and discovered that I had a problem inserting them into my eye.I ended up getting a new pair of glasses for my wedding. My groom loved the way I looked in them(he met me wearing glasses and did not expect anything else.He has always loved the way my glasses looked on me and really loves the new pair I got.) and they look spectacular in the pictures (they are retangular shaped in a deep brown).

So I say wear your glasses and be who you are.You are gonna look great with or without the glasses.

I think you should wear them for this fact: Alot of brides open their wedding albums and dont recongnize themsleves in future years because they have done something different to themselves. I can recall reading an advice column before I was married about a bride who had her make-up done elaborately, totally not they way she would ever wear it, but she thought it would be better to do something unique for her wedding. She really regretted doing that make-up because she looked back at the pictures and thought "Who is that?" If glasses are who you are, wear them, they are a part of you.

Best wishes!

I chose not to wear my glasses and to get contacts for my wedding and to be really honest i am so glad i did.

I'm very short sighted so can't have these nice trendy frames as my prescription is too strong for thin lenses.

BUT do what you are happy with, i chose contacts and it was great for me but you should do what you feel is right for you.
If you love your glasses then wear them, a professional photographer won't have any problem with the flash off them.

Good luck with whatever YOU decide to do.

I would say definitely DONT wear your glasses. I also wear glasses and contact lenses. I dont think its attractive on your wedding day and you dont want to be in your gorgeous dress on your photos wearing a pair of glasses.

I wore contacts on my wedding day and was so pleased that i did. It made such a difference on my photos.

If you are a bit nervous about the difference in how you look try wearing them every now and then now on the build up to your wedding so you and your fiance get used to seeing you that way and the rest of your guests.

I think you should. If you wear them regularly, and everyone knows that you do, and you feel comfortable wearing them, then do so. I'm getting married in April, and I intend to wear my glasses. My fiance and I went to the shops and found a "special pair" which I will be wearing on the day. He isn't allowed to see me in them until then. It is very easy to co-ordinate with your dress / hair / make up. I normal wear bold type frames, but my new ones are semi rimless and smallish and very stylish. Have fun with them

I'm sure you look great in glasses, as well as feel great! The only things I can think of that would be bad are...the flash from the photos might reflect funny off your glasses. And when you do decide to take them off, the place where they rest on either side of your nose can turn out to have the makeup rubbed off.
