you are holding what appears to be an AK 47 with a foldable stock, I could be wrong, and it could be the wood grain stock, as is the for grip, invented in 1947 by russian man micheal kalashnikov, who was a tank commander, and drew up designs for it after he was badly injured, it was and still is one of the best, if not the best assault rifles in the world with a standard 30 round 7.62 mm cartridge, packs more punch than the M16 5.56 cal, and the AK can be fully automatic, or semi automatic, the one your holding looks to be slightly in used condition, but in good working condition, since the AK 47 is impervious to sand, dirt, water and the such, it also was one of the first gas driven, self contained fully automatic rifles ever made, and was a godsend from kalashnikov, you should be proud to have held it. oh, it is also one of the most widely distributed rifles in the world, outlasting the 1903 springfield, and the m14, so the service length for it is good too, a fine rifle I do say.

Pretty much looks like an AK-47. Since you are saying to guess at the caliber, and 7.62x39 is the standard caliber or the AK, I'm guessing this is one of those new one in 5.56x45.

It looks like an AK-47 in 7.62x39 caliber, but the pic is so small I can't tell for sure. It could be an SKS.

That photograph is smaller than a piece of confetti for me. I'm guessing it's a chinese MAK90 with wood furniture.
