Have you recently come off any medication? That can sometimes cause it. I know I had this problem.
Sometimes you can develop an allergy to something you've always used before and been fine with.
It might help if you keep a note of everything that is in contact with your skin for a week.
Have you tried any different foods lately?

several medical conditions can cause this, could be a fungal infection that has spread. Allergic reaction. Do not scratch, it will tear the skin, try to lightly rub with a sock then toss in dirty clothes. Keep hands clean and try an oatmeal bath soak for the total body itch relief, (its recommended for kids with chicken pox to relieve itching) they sell them cheap at the store, I think the brand is aveeno. Before taking benadryl or other antihistamines, ask you local pharmacist especially if you are taking other medications. Antihistamines have age considerations too.

If you start scratching an itch, it often makes you feel itchy for longer. Try and get some cream, and whatever you do try and resist the urge to scratch when you feel one as i will hopefully go if you ignore it. Make sure you are wearing clean clothes and have clean bed linen. Get as much fresh air as you can because warm conditions can exacerbate skin irritations. Hope these tips help as I'm not sure what else to suggest.
