ok, so i have really thich hair, which i recently cut down to my shoulders. I'd like to be able to straighten it or find a hairstyle to look good. When i just air dry my hair, the bottom half of my hair gets uncontrolably curly, but when i blow dry it, the bottom half gets kind of curly, but my hair turns into like an afro. So most of the time i just put my hair in a pony tail, do you have any suggestions of other things i can do with my hair?

when you blow dry your hair make sure you do it in small 2inch sections, this will flatten the hair better. Use a paddle brush and serums, put frizz control sprays on just before when the hair is damp, this should control your ends. i think straight hair looks best at shoulder length, with a side fringe. x

When you go to the salon ask them to texturize your hair to remove some of the bulk. With hair like that i wouldent reccomend going to a cheap place like super cuts or fantastic sams, not one of those 5 min hair cut places....because they wont do a good job and take the time to really go in and make your hair look its best.

defiantly get it thinned out some. you Can also scrunch it with moose or jell ( it will be curly if you do this ). i would recommend frizz-ease products. when you do put it up in a ponytail make it intersting not just plain. add a bump on the top (like my avatar) or add some ribbons or Barret's you can do hairspray that has glitter in it or put shimmer powder make up on your hands and run them through your hair it will give it a glittering, shining, or shimmering look also you can get some headbands too <--- make sure they will stay in though like goody stay put products. you can ask your stylist for other ideas.

have your hairdresser use thinning shears and take a little of the bulk out of your thick hair. then when you straighten it it will be easier and may not tend to curl as bad. this should also help witht he "afro" problem

to tame your frizzy ends you need to use good quality anti frizz hair cream or balm ,
i have same problem but not now as i m using sun silk anti frizz and straightening hair cream and dove hair restore treatment to protect my hair from split ends. i apply both on my hair ends when they are wet after bath and then when they are air dry i use leave in conditioner by Schwarzkopf to iron them flat ,manageable and lovely .
