Make eye contact with him and smile with a flirty look...
Do this for about a week.. Then end up sitting near him the following week and start talking to him.. If he likes you he'll take control after that.. Good luck

ok... if the guys older ... (since you said he was an 8th grade) lol im in 8th... well notice him first... get a friend to ask who he likes... then it'll start hinting to him that you like him... which in turn will make him look at you differently (in attraction)
