Probably because they don't want to be stuck in a shed in the UK, they'd rather be in South Africa where its summer

They do this because being ducks they don't perch and so they need a way to avoid sleeping in their own droppings.

Are they being startled by something outside, taking off then pooing? Birds do that in self defence.
