There's no one way to answer your question without knowing your specific tendencies, weaknesses, and strengths. Generally, with anyone who wants to improve their writing, I like to give the same advice: "Read more, write more".
The best way to get better at a thing is by doing it more, and with writing it also helps to be an avid READER, you'll find yourself appreciating techniques and nuances that you'll end up incorporating into your own writing.
Generally, with essays, just try to be clear and concise. Although it depends on the subject, you generally want to keep your personal experience and influence out of the factual information except for interpretation and voice.

You should first build your vocabulary. Find sources online that provide vocabulary lists and learn 5 new words every day. Start using the new vocabulary to expand your word choice. Allow your writing to be more vivid and desciptive. Afterwards, work on sentence structure. Find the best possible way to write each sentence that will reflect the creative writing style.
