Reduce your portion sizes, drink water with your meal it will help you feel full.
If your serious about losing weight you need to have some willpower and self control, which means limiting those unhealthy snacks.
Try snacking on fruit, rice cakes, seeds and other low fat snacks. Have a small chocolate/ packet of crisps etc as an occasional treat.
Remember to exercise regularly that will speed up you weight loss and increase your metabolism.

Well, if you eat big portions and carry on eating when you are full, then STOP.
Measure out your portion sizes, use a smaller plate so it looks larger, and then leave the kitchen to eat. Sit at a table, not in front of the TV, and eat your meal. When you are done, you are done. That's it. You will feel fuller if you eat plenty of vegetables, and lot's of fiber. As for snacking, you can either try to drink more water between meals, or allow yourself a piece of fruit. Much better choice than junk food, and at reduced calories.
What you SHOULD be doing is examining the habits that cause you to gain weight in the first place. Address these unhealthy habits, and you can find a permanent solution. Portion control is just one piece of the puzzle. You should be eating a well-balanced, calorie restricted diet, and getting moderate exercise. Change your habits - change your life.

couldn't agree more - it is VERY hard!! at least you're honest and don't blame it on your metabolism!
Paul McKenna's CD is meant to be good if your main problem is controlling your portions - you can eat what you want but he programs you to stop when you're full. Sounds a bit lame but alot of people swear by it so it might be worth a go
The other option is to join a slimming group - slimming world allows you to eat unlimited pasta, spuds, rice etc one day and unlimited lean meat the next day, and you can always eat as many eggs, fruit and vegetables as you like. Its good for those of use who cant stop eating but I found the recipes a bit bland after a while.
weightwatchers is ok but you really do have to limit what you eat by quite alot-its basically calorie control
Or have you tried just trying to cook more healthily, cooking smaller portions and trying to include some exercise in your day? I think this is probably the best and cheapest way to go!

Start swimming four times a week. Do not leave the pool until you have done 50 lengths.
Stop eating carboyhdrates after 7pm- leave out altogether at dinner.
Eat smaller portions, but more often. Snack on vegtables dipped in hummus for example.
Cut out fatty foods like pizza- eat more fresh fish, salads etc

If you're in australia log on to www.calorieking.com.au it's free and it's great. It takes your age, height and weight and tells you your ideal weight. It then tells you how many calories you should be consuming a day. It gives you daily menus, or you can eat what you like and look the calories up on their website. The thing I find the most useful is a red bar at the bottom of your eating diary...it goes up as you click on the things you eat and goes down if you exercise. It's a very healthy way to lose weight and it's very motivating. It is also free. If you're NOT in Australia you should try www.sparkpeople.com. I logged on to that site and it's very similar to the first one but I found it difficult to find the foods in the menu as it's american and some of the food is not available here.
I have also seen a diatician, who has told me to drink 3 tsp of psyllium husk in a large glass of low calorie cordial or juice and water before every meal. It works a charm...it fills you up and you don't get hungry so you can easily deal with a low calorie diet...however don't forget to count it in your calories.
Psyllium Husk is available from woolworths supermarkets in Australia in the health food department. Start with a low dose as it swells in your tummy and can give you a tummy ache...you can make the dose higher when you see that your body can cope with it. It's great...it's also fibre which helps your tummy stay healthy, keeps your cholesterol down or lowers it if you have high cholesterol. Don't forget drinking lots of water and getting plenty of exercise like walking fast.

Drink 2 litres of water a day. That can include a glass of fizzy water with a meal which means you would eat less.
Avoid high fat foods and eat lots of low fat bulk like veg.
Also try and exercise three times a week, like cycling or walking.

Tell friends, family and work colleagues that you’re dieting. Support from your people around you keeps a person motivated, stops you from cheating in addition to makes it less likely that you'll fall off the wagon.

You could try Weight Watchers, it's really easy to follow. I lost two stone during the summer but unfortunately piled it all back on.

Well, my friend thought she was too big and went to weightwatcher clubs every week. They were quite expensive but they worked she was 15 stone now she's 12 stone.
