Abraham wanted children - God said Abraham and sarah will give birth to a great nation.
Sarah couldn't have children, so abraham slept with the maid(house and toilet cleaner) and gave birth to ishmail.
Then god said-i told u i would give you children with sarah, so abraham then slept with sara, giving birth to isaac, who would inherit Israel. Now hagar and ishmail were banned and told to leave, but god said their offspring would be blessed. Now muslims arethe jealous brother of the Jews. The arabs think they should get Israel because Ishmail was born first - but from an egytian slave woman, not sarah who god specifically said from her would be the promised nation.

God promised a great nation through Abraham. Sarah wanted to fulfill this, believing that she was barren, she gave Hagar to Abraham. God fulfilled His Promise to Abraham and Sarah bore Isaac. God kept His word to Ishmael through Abraham and Ishmael grew to a great nation

No one can answer for God. If someone knows the answer with scriptural knowlege, great. But for those people who don't know, that is where Islam comes in. Islam branched from the son of Hagar.

Well, Christianity/Judaism/Islam all come back to Abraham. One of the descendants of Hagar's son, Ismael, started Islam. Abraham is the "father of the Jewish nation", and Isaac inherited the role as chieftain from his father.
