Can you help? I'm just about to start a new job at an estate agent and have a few concerns regarding personal safety one of which being that my car does not have central locking. I would like remote central locking and was wondering if it would be worth my time (and money) getting it fitted to my current car (if this can be done) or whether I should just buy a car that already has it? The problem I have with buying a new car is that I have only had my license for a couple of months so my insurance will be quite high. What would you suggest? Thanks for reading xx

i looked into doing exactly the same on my peugeot 106 and my mate has done it on his fiesta and belive me it is not worth doing. it is a major pain in the **** to fit and it is always breaking, because it is bolted onto the existing lock mechinism. also to get a decent one you need to spend a bit of moeny on a kit. they do cheap ones from maplin but i would avoid them like the plague. and for a car your age the amount of money it costs it would be cheaper just to get a new car!!!

It is possible but it will cost you an arm and a leg. I suggest you trade in your old fiesta and try and get the same spec in a new shape. If you buy it new from a main dealer it comes with insurance 1 year. Nearly all of them now come with central locking

go to the scrap yeard and remove the motors, loom, relaqys and switches from another fez, will be easier than fitting an aftermarket generic kit and a lot cheaper. or just dont bother, why would cental locking make a difference?

What advantage will central locking give you for safety?
At the moment the only door that gets unlocked is the one you're standing at (not all of them), and you can relock it when you get it.

Buy a car that has it! lol The linear motors - one for each door are expensive and then you usually have it wired to an alarm. It will cost you around £500 - but it can be done.
