The US isn't threatening it's neighbors, Iran is ! Iran is behind most if not all of the turmoil in the middle east. It is providing arms, explosives, money, insurgents, and logistics to the criminal element in Iraq. It does basically the same for Hezbollah along with Syria. It is behind the latest battles in Lebanon and is now trying to unseat the duly elected government in Lebanon. It is a supporter of Hamas, the group responsible for keeping the Israeli/Palestinian conflict alive. It is a supporter of the Taliban, which also completes the circle of al Quaeda/Iran involvement !

Do you need more, or do you still think Iran is responsible enough to maintain nuclear weapons ?

Because he believes that the Iranian leaders would use an atomic weapon against the US or against Isreal. He hopes to prevent such an attack by attacking Iran first, but the most he could do is delay Iran's development of a nuclear arsenal. This is a time for diplomacy, not more war mongering.

Its mostly just tough talk. He doesn't want to attack Iran or anywhere else. But the entire world (not just the US) needs to be vigilant to ensure those weapons do not end up in the wrong hands ie..terrorist.
We have weapons as do many other countries, but the chance of us using them extremely slim. If another country wants them fine, but they must abide by the same rules as the rest of us. Regular inspections, sanctions etc... We all must abide by these rules not just Iran. The real problem is, they want to cut corners.

America is afraid that Iran would give dirty bombs to terrorist and these would be used against Isreal or other American intrests. We are not worried that Iran would attack America, just that once it makes a bomb, it loses control of who can set them off.

If you can't see some fundimental differences between the two countries(baring Cheney) I don't think there's enough room on this to answer.
