If you're swimming 1,000m in ½-hour, then I guess you must be an experienced swimmer, so should be obtaining the maximum benefit from the exercise (unlike those who, like me, are more 'splash' than rhythm and would derive little benefit as far as fat burning is concerned!). Be sure that you're not confusing body weight with fat! Swimming is believed to be one of the safest forms of low-impact excercise, as well as being recreational. You're using all of your muscles in the water, so you're developing more solid muscle. Remember though that you won't see much difference in your weight, but you should see a change in the composition of the body fat. If you really want to optimise your swimming exercise, it may be a good idea to combine it with some land aerobics which will further improve your fitness level and so optimise the benefits of swimming. Good luck for a healthy future. Be sure to keep the exercise up though, because I've seen people tone-up well, only to put fat back on when they've ceased to exercise. If you're combining it with healthy eating, however, the healthy eating habit should stay with you and this will be a great help in maintaining your good shape.

You are doing exactly the right thing. Swimming, which requires much effort from most of the muscles in our bodies, is about the best form of fat burning exercise a person can take.
The next best exercise is plain walking - requires no equipment, other than a pair of shoes.

hi, ensure that you are drinking plenty of water, you should drink 1ltr to every 37 pounds of weight a day. If you are not drinking enough you will struggle with loosing weight.
Swimming is excellent for weight loss but it is also less stressfull on the body, if you can manage some breast stroke then some crawl and make sure you warm up, areobic swim, then cool down you will notice a difference.
If you suffer with water retention also, you will find that you weight will fluctuate, but the swimming will help reduce that.
Well done with losing 1/2 stone already :)

I'm assuming you mean 1000m---it would be impossible to swim 1000 k.
Swimming is great exercise, BUT, it has been shown to be a slow form of fat loss. Immersing the body in cold water (lower than our body temp) causes the body to hang on to fat. It's great for your muscles, heart, lungs, and joints, though.
This is why all the open-ocean, long distance swimmers have a bit of fat over their muscles.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.
I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.
It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.
Get started today!

one of my senior taekwondo was like so big. not big because of muscle, but fat - all over his body. it was months ago.
but last week, i met him at a cafe and i was like so shocked. he is totally different, as if another person. i asked him how he lose so much weights in just a few months? 3-4months i suppose.
he said, i do a lot of exercise, especially i swims a lot during this few months.
then i left without asking much about the weight of his body again.
trust me, if you really really swims. you will feel it result as soon as you get out from the water. swimming is the best exercise all of us can do, rather than joggings or gyms.

go to an aqua aerobics class, only go once and learn some of the fitness exercises and then you can do them after your swimming. swimming is great, but some aqua aerobic techniques will also help you tone specific areas.
cheers

Swimming is effective, although it doesn't burn as many calories as running or other weight-bearing exercises.
Obviously more is better, but you're going at it the right way.
(I think you meant 1000m - lol)

swimming is the best possible exercise you can do to lose weight and tone your body. but its better for larger people than it is for the slimmer, because if youre a fairly slim person, it isnt very good for your bone structure.
