yes he is feeling very happy and secure. cat's see their people as their mom/dad.

Unless you have a really furry chest, you kitten sees you as a safe warm secure place, I guess that would be more like a Mom!
I have 2 cats one sleeps on my head, she was a bottle fed baby, and the other sleeps by my husbands back, they each have picked a place where they feel the most security and love!

When kitten is taken away from mum quite young. she will feel insure and look to someone who give love and she will able to feel that. Just like a real baby needs the mother. You can see the baby will do the same like your kitten. Kitten can feel if she is wanted. When kittens are young they all cuddled with their mother all the time. Now mum is not there you are the mother.
Chest is like the mum's breast and you can actually feel she is relax because you can hear her purring.
Good Luck and give plenty of attention and tender loving care. You would not regret it she will love you so much.
Teach gentle and you will have a good temper and affected cat.

He doesn't really see you as mom or another cat...
He sees you as a heating pad.
Welcome to the world of being a cat's servant.
You don't own the house.. the cat does. It just tolerates you living there because you feed it.

Neither,the kitten is hearing your breathing and just feeling comfortable and secure. He knows you aren't a cat, you smell different. And I don't think he can really think through to the idea of you being his mother, that's not in a cat's brain. he just likes the sense of your breathing, it does remind him of his mother.

Cats and dogs live a life based on dominance. Who is top dog / cat matters. Often size matters. Often who defends or gets food matters. Cats/dogs rely a lot on chemical scents.
You are definitely top cat - you are bigger, and get the food and you smell of you and that is nice, he feels safe and warm.
This dominance thing can be IMPORTANT. My ex husband worked with dingo dogs here in Australia. It was ESSENTIAL that he touch the top dog first, then top female then second dog etc..
If he did not he could be bitten.
People sometimes get bitten by wild animals because they do not carry out this protocol.

Your kitten sees you as his mother because obviousley, you don't look like a cat. Also, no other cat even his mother, would treat that kitten that well. Good luck with the new kitten!

Your kitten can hear your heart-beat while he's on your chest and believe you are his mom. The sound of the heart beat makes him feel secure.

mom ofcourse but if he never see another cat before or himself on the mirror maybe he might be thinking he is a human. i dont this is just an opinion.

no , it is just because you are his owner, and you gave him/her a home and fed im and watered him/her !! so dont worry its normall for a cat to do that and im a vet by the way, any other things you would like to know , i am alwasy here xx
