What happens to really dark stretch marks on your hips, arms, and back after you lose weight? The marks on the hip are about 1 1/2 years, and the arms is about 1 year, and the back is about 6 months. If someone loses about 25 pounds to put them at a healthy weight, what happens to the thickness/color of the marks?

They won't go away, but they will fade to a silvery color. You should tan some too. That helps them get lighter and less noticable.

The stretch marks don't go away, rather they tend to lighten up. When you lose weight, the marks won't be pulled as tight, so they can almost appear like a wrinkle. But, losing 25 lbs shouldn't affect the way they appear too much.

Like any scar, they fade. Mine tend to be lighter than my skin, not darker.
