You may have a gum inflammation. Your dentist should be able to properly diagnose it. Meanwhile eat lots of foods with C Vitamin, they are the best medicine for gum infection and will not have any side effects if you eat too much of it.
Example are: oranges, tangerines, broccoli, green peppers, kale, etc...
Water and exercise will greatly help your general health, which is always EXCELLENT to have, specially a good immune system, because it is the immune system that will ultimately fight the gum infection, if you have one.

Theres a good chance that you have gingivitis.. the best way to keep your gums from bleeding is flossing every day and use mouth wash. What happends is food gets lodged between your teeth and when you dont floss it gets up into your gums. The food turns into bacteria and makes your gums very sensitive. So bleeding occurs every time you brush. Flossing everyday and using mouth wash will reduce your bleeding and help you have overall good hygiene.

I believe you have gingivitis. Make sure that you use a mouth wash as this reduces the development of plaque and gingivitis by up to 50% more than brushing alone. (Off my mouth wash bottle) Check out the site below it goes into abit more. It even comments on people that brush gentle like you do. Hope it works out for you, But just to let you know it is quite common.

This problem runs in my family. I have it. My aunt and cousins have it too.
Always use a soft brush. And eat vitamins and stuff. To rule out any diseases and infections, talk to your dentist.
