Heart worms cause this condition. You should take the cat to the vet and have it checked out.

Could be diabetes, take him to a vet that's the only way to be sure instead of guessing what the problem is, my cat has diabetes, still drinks a lot but doesn't need shots of insulin only a special diet called MD. only a check-up by a vet will find the problem, don't delay, take him as soon as possible. Good Luck.

Our cat started drinking lots and losing weight. He had blood tests and he has an overactive thyroid which also causes his heart to overwork and beat very fast. He also has small kidneys.
It is important that if you haven't already done so that you get to the vets, if it is the thyroid your cat will probably be prescribed medication to control it. Ours was and its been about 3/4 weeks now, we noticed an improvement after 1/2 weeks, drinking less, mood improved, appetite regained and he is slowly putting on weight. The vet saw him after 2 weeks and said he was really pleased with him. So it can be a quick response.
Hope all went/goes well.
xx

If the cat is loosing weight as well then you definatley have a problem. You must take the cat to the vets immediatley.
If the cat isn't loosing weight then really the same applies, although you might not find it's quite so serious as if there is a weight loss.
Either way, visit the vets.

Your cat could possibly be having problems with his kidneys, thyroid, or diabetes. The most likely problem is kidney though. As cats get older their kidneys do not work as well and as a result they require more water than they had when they were younger. For whatever reason, you need to get your cat to the vet as soon as possible. The earlier the treatment the better!! Good luck!!

Possibly diabetes. I have a diabetic cat. He is my second one. Both drank loads of water before being diagnosed. I have been giving insulin for over 10 years. Time to go to the vet!!

Hi
It's good your cat is going to the vets. Drinking a lot of water and failure to eat can indicate a kidney problem. Your vet will be able to diagnose this with a blood test, and whilst it isn't reversible, there are treatments and special diets which can help to stabilise it.
Good luck

Sounds like a problem with the kidneys don't hang around take him to the vets, I maybe wrong, but its best to be safe rather than sorry, and if it is the kidneys the longer you leave it untreated the worse it will get, the poor thing could be in pain, take him/her asap

You should take him or her to the vet's. It could possibly be a water or kidney infection. I had a similar problem with my cat and that's what it turned out to be. Hope your cat gets better soon.

Your cat sounds like he has a urine infection i.e. cystitis, my cat is 19 years old and suffers with this quite often and drinks loads of water. Also dont feed your cat biscuits as this is the worst thing for this condition especially the felix make.
