My husband and I intend to immigrate to toronto, before we make the big move I would love to know how much should we have in liquid cash to survive in toronto, and how long does it take to get a job? Whats the cost of houses and where do u get cheap ones in that case? How expensive are school for our children 6yrs and 3yrs. Kindly give us all the details that could be of assistance, we are african, and need a reasonable place to stay for our survival. We currently reside in Africa so this is a really big move we intending if we are lucky to get the Right of landing papers for canada.

I'm afraid you won't be finding a cheap house in Toronto, and how long it takes to find a job will depend on what your skills are and how much you're willing to accept for a salary. But public school for your 6 yr old is free at least! Here's a handy link for houses:

You can check monster.ca for jobs, too.
As far as liquid cash goes.. shoot.. as much as possible! It's not like you'll be bringing your car and furniture with you, and you'll need rent money until you can buy a house.

I suppose it depends on the standard of living you're accustomed to.. anywhere from $10k to $100K I guess :)
