Smoking pot does not cause bipolar disorder. However, if you have a predisposition to mental illness, using a mood-altering substance may well precipitate any underlying symptoms.

no i do not believe that pot causes a bi polar syndrome, but can mimic the symptoms. when u smoke pot u might feel really high and good, but when the effect wears off you might feel a little down, especially if u run out of pot. however if u were bi polar, your ups and downs can last for days, or weeks, with a lot more severity. there is nothing u can do to prevent being bi polar, but u can mange it with medications. i would advise against chewing gum wrappers.

Smoking it may... sitting around staring at it probably won't!
50% chance of getting this one right... PUT THE GUM IN YOUR MOUTH, NOT THE ALUMINIUM!
(p.s. Don't put the gum & the unsmoked pot in your mouth at the same time)

I don't think there's any association between pot and bipolar disorder.
