If you're just coming over on a Visitor Visa.... to visit Australia and for no other reason, there is no minimum bank balance necessary.

You will have to have proof of a round-trip ticket, so that if they want to kick you out, you have the ticket, but other than that, the only money you need is what you bring for your holiday.

Electronic Travel Authority (ETA)
An Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) is equivalent to a visa and allows travel to Australia for a short stay, but there is no stamp or label placed in your passport.

The Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) is available online, from participating travel agencies when making travel arrangements, or through participating airlines, as well as at Australian visa offices overseas.

Visas
If you do not hold an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA), you will need to apply for a visa.

Australia isn't a cheap place to visit, so make sure you take that into account when making your travel plans.

I hope this helps....
