I know it's bad, but I can't stop thinking about it -- about using it to lose weight, deal with stress. My sister and I are the only ones who have never smoked in our family. My grandmother would smoke like a chimney and within 10 pounds always maintained her 88 lbs!!! I'm a cow and in constant stress, and just can't help thinking it'd take the edge off and help me cope with emotional eating.
Argh!!! How do I get these thoughts out? (Yes, I exercise and eat well, but I have a pituitary brain tumor they don't want to take out and it seems I have no metabolism)

Don't listen to that first answer....if you haven't started to smoke now DONT START. For stress try yoga, and for weight-loss if you have tried everything else, talk to your doctor about other options if your weight really bothers you. Just don't smoke hon...you've come so far! (plus it'll make you reek and you'll ahve health prolems!)

I have been a smoke for almost 30 years, it does not make you lose weight! If that was the case I would be 88lbs, try another avenue!

smoking wont help you lose weight nor help you cope with stress. try exercise or any physical activity that you like. it keeps your body fit and will help relax your mind without causing damage to your lungs.

What you could do is go to a therapist or do yoga. Yoga helps take stress away and is also really fun.

Please don't do it.
It really is a terrible habit. As for your weight issues i know alot of fat smokers, not all smokers are skinny, its a big misconception that smoking equals weight loss. I wish it was that, smoking equals to alot of health problems.
Being a non smoker is a blessing.
