Is Satanism just a childish cult?

Here's my view on Satanism...


little people follow it to look ''cool''... ''oh look at me, I'm a rebel that follows satan!!!'' (grow up!)

but instead they look out of place. Why follow such a religion thingy???
We live in a modern society. I feel like telling Satanists to ''grow up! get a life!''

There are two "types" of Satanism in today's world. The Official Church of Satan, and many others, don't "believe" in a literal Devil. They merely espouse a religion that acknowledges both the intellectual and the animal in mankind, and does not lean on any higher power for its moral codes. It's a pretty tough road to walk, actually, because there's no cop out. You do someting, or you don't do something If you don't do something you wanted to do, it's nobody's fault but your own. These people I don't regard as silly or cultish, they appear to have a stark and realistic worldview and they live up to their own definitions fo the world.

Then there are the people who believe in the literal Devil from the Judaio-Christian tradition, and "worship" him in all sorts of silly ritualistic ways. Even the other type os Satanists views this lot as a bit sad and silly, so yeah, I'd go along with you on that.

Well first of all satanism as such is prettymuch extinct, there isn't any big group that calls itself satanistic.

Satan morphs his stuff into more processable religions like free masonry, scientology or whatever. Think about it, Satans goal is to bring you as far from anything good as possible, but his very existance and the knowledge of his existance is something that moves one towards God.

Satan is a deciever, so obviously there won't be a religion like: "Satanism: the ultimate confirmation of Satans and Gods existance, but i still want you to root for the underdog and damn yourself for eternity". Anyone who would join such a group is just gullible (not naive, there is a difference).

They can't be called childish simply because there is no "default childish behavior". Some kids are really really bad but some are good, obedient, they don't burn the cat, etc. Both are childish.

edit: Also, Jesus instructed us to be like children. Obviously the good kind. (Don't worry about things, trust in God, don't pick fights be humble, etc.)

Modern-day Satanism is merely a philosophy -- one that is primarily based on that of Anton LaVey's. It's rather harmless, really. There's no ritual-sacrifice, abortion-clinic-bombings, child molestation, money swindling, or thievery. Can't say the same for Christianity...

You're merely confused with the Hollywood portrayal of "devil-worship".

Satanism is not a childish cult and they do not worship Satan! They believe themselves to be God in the same way Satan Believed he was god. They Do not believe Satan exist but use him as an idea of how one should be. the one who needs to grow up is you. Please study other peoples religion before you attack their beliefs.

Satanism has nothing to do with Satan. Big shocker, huh? It's actually atheistic in nature, and the only god that it endorses is the god that you are. You worship yourself, really.
