I have known this guy for 3 years and we have been "seeing" each other on and off for nearly 9 months... I am not sure where I stand with him so I asked him. He says I am "a bit more than a friend". Am I right to think that he will never be in love with me after all this time?

Be careful in what you ask. If he does not want anything more stay friends. I went with someone for over 20 years off and on, and we decided to get married on Valentines Day 1997. It lasted 5 years and we got divorced in 2002. We should have stayed friends, and things would have been OK. Now we cannot stand one another. Sometimes friends are just that, friends.

I'd say yes you're probably wasting you time looking for a love connection there. 3 years and he couldn't even say girlfriend?
