Actually Krishna is more appropriate for this materialistic world. The prime message in Gita and the meaning of Krishna is same and more useful to day. Krishna means who has complete control over desires (eshna). Desires make one wavering. To day all say time is money. In his Gita's message he says not to waver by thinking over results of what you do, that is mere wasting of time. All his messages are to be put in practise today.

As stated in the Brahma-samhita (5.33), the Lord is one, but He has many forms and many names. It was not that because Gargamuni gave the child the name Krishna , that was His only name. He has other names, such as Bhaktavatsala, Giridhari, Govinda and Gopala. If we analyze the nirukti, or semantic derivation, of the word "Krishna ," we find that na signifies that He stops the repetition of birth and death, and krish means sattartha, or "existence." (Krishna is the whole of existence.) Also, krish means "attraction," and na means ananda, or "bliss." Krishna is known as Mukunda because He wants to give everyone spiritual, eternal, blissful life. Unfortunately, because of the living entity's little independence, the living entity wants to "deprogram" the program of Krishna . This is the material disease. Nonetheless, because Krishna wants to give transcendental bliss to the living entities, He appears in various forms. Therefore He is called Krishna . Because Gargamuni was an astrologer, he knew what others did not know. Yet Krishna has so many names that even Gargamuni did not know them all. It is to be concluded that Krishna , according to His transcendental activities, has many names and many forms.
From the purport to Srimad Bhagavatam(10.8.16),
by A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada,
Founder-Acharya of ISKCON
(International Society for Krishna Consciousness)
"'The word "krish" is the attractive feature of the Lord's existence, and "na" means spiritual pleasure. When the verb "krish" is added to the affix "na" it becomes Krishna, which indicates the Absolute Truth.'"
Mahabharata (Udyoga-parva, 71.4)
(cited: Sri Caitanya-caritamrta Madhya-lila 9.30)
According to the revealed scriptures, in this age of Kali-yuga it is possible to get Krishna by the Hare Krishna Mahamantra,
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna
Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama
Rama Rama Hare Hare

Note: These are my opinions please do not take them personally.
It is not possible to get krishna. But it is possible to become krishna yourself.
krishna was the only Human being who lived life truely exploring all the dimensions of life.
He was naughty when required, was cruel when required, was courageous when required, ran away when required.
He simply accepted life as it came. He tunned himself to the nature so well that he got dissolved in nature. And nature is multi dimensional, nature is GOD itself. Theres no end and no start to it.
So is the same with krishna. If you study his character well, you will understand me better. He had all the quilities, this includes loving, caring, cruel, angry, calm, etc etc etc.
So try to be Krishna instead of searching him because he is already within you.
Act according to the situation.
Do not leave your right and never take others.

Krishna becomes more relevant in this materialistic world
When we doubt as to how to handle the negative energies haunting us
When we doubt as to how to behave in this selfish world...when we have doubts how to attain enlightenment in this rock solid Kaliyuga
Krishna is the only answer. By his life he gave an example of how to live, perfectly.... Gita has become more relevant now

Krishna is the Divine. He is the true doer of actions, the creator of everything, and the source of all divine bliss. You can reach Krishna through love, devotion, and chanting of his holy names. Even the smallest offering, if given with love, is enough for him.

Krishna (à¤à¥à¤·à¥à¤£ in Devanagari, ká¹á¹£á¹a in IAST ) is a deity famously worshipped throughout the traditions of Hinduism. He is usually depicted as a young cowherd boy playing on a flute (based on depictions in the Bhagavata Purana) or a youthful prince giving philosophical direction (as in Bhagavad Gita).
Most commonly within Hinduism, Krishna is worshipped as an avatar of Vishnu, who is considered as the Supreme God by the Vaishnava schools. Within Gaudiya Vaishnavism Krishna is worshipped as the source of all other avatars (including Vishnu).[1]
Krishna and the stories associated with him appear across the broad spectrum of Hindu philosophical and theological traditions. Though they sometimes differ in details reflecting the concerns of a particular tradition, some core features are shared by all. These include a divine incarnation, a pastoral childhood and youth, and life as a heroic warrior and teacher.
[edit] The name "Krishna"
Main article: List of titles and names of Krishna
The term Krishna in Sanskrit has the literal meaning of "black" or "dark", and is used as a name to describe someone with a dark skin complexion. The Brahma Samhita describes Krishna's complexion as being "tinged with the hue of blue clouds",[2] and commonly he is painted as having either blackish or dark-blue skin. In murthis also, Krishna is portrayed as being dark skinned. For instance, Jagannatha (a name meaning: Krishna as 'Lord of the World'), at Puri in Orissa is a murthi form of Krishna alongside his brother, Balarama, and sister, Subhadra, the latter two being shown with light complexions and Jagannatha himself being black.
The Gaudiya tradition explains the primary meaning of the name Krishna as being “all-attractive”. This is justified by an interpretion of a verse in the Mahabharata, as given in the Chaitanya Charitamrita.[3] Commentators on the Vishnu sahasranama offer explanations on similar lines. According to Adi Sankara's commentary Krishna is the 57th name of Vishnu meaning the "Existence of knowledge and Bliss."
