Heard it from where....Al Gore perhaps. No, I doubt very much that this is even remotely true unless the heat is so intense that humans can't live out side. I worked in Kuwait when the temperatures exceeded 145F and my cell phone worked while being outside in that heat.

I think someone is telling you something that is not true. It is also possible your source of information didn't make their point clearly and meant something slightly different. Check back with your source. What did they mean by "heat"?

I really don't believe this is true, but it sounds like a great thing to email all your friends about and see how long it takes to get on CNN.
