on the contrary Islam encourage to learn and study and know your enemy language studying has nothing to do with Islam from where you got this idea all people in Egypt are educated and they are Muslims and Christians and some are not educated like Terry g (she is an example)
so if you don't learn about other culture u will become illiterate like Trey g so save your self and study.
I am Egyptian and Muslim and I am proud of who i am , and if you need further information about anything just e-mail me.

Al salam Alaykom my blessed sister
You can defiantly study the culture of Egypt, and any other culture in the world. Who said that you can't study any culture as long as you are a Muslim? To the one who said Islam is evil, get a life and stop being a hater.
Peace be upon you.

Islam and culture are two separate things, dear. :)
Islam encourages all men and women to seek knowledge, not just of the religion, but also of the world, so that we can better understand the creation. You can find a lot of information about modern Egypt online. You can learn a lot about the culture and history of Egypt at your local library. Have fun.

Whosoever follows a path to seek knowledge therein, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise
Sahih Muslim, Book 35 Number6518
Learning and seeking knowledge is encouraged in Islam some even say it is a form of worship. So go ahead learn, Egypt has a fascinating history.

If you read your scriptures properly you are told to learn other cultures and question everything! Mohammad him self says his teachings are guidelines and not set in stone as life changes so do situations so you are invited even to evaluate his teachings.
Unfortunately too many people see fundamentalism as the only answer! why? most moderates of any religion are the people with the best understandings of all cultures.
I also find it hard to understand how anyone of any religion can follow blindly without questions or even bothering to learn the history of their religion. Just look at some (not all) Cristian's who blindly follow the bible as absolute truth with all answers when the church it's self admits it went through an editing process in the 4th century.

How in the world could that possibly be wrong? Forget Islam. Forget Christianity. Forget the whole of religion. If the quest for knowledge is sinful in the eyes of a religion, then the religion is holding us in a new Middle Ages. Religion should be about the simple quest for truth no matter where it takes you, not supporting prepackaged answers.

oh for goodnees sake why do you try to make muslims look like ignorate jerks. If you are a muslim you should know that Prophet Mohammand PBUH said get education even if you have to travel to china.
there is absulotely no harm in learning about other cultures or even other religions. I read about about all the religions all the time and thats why i can compare between all the religions and choose for myself and not just follows my parents or the society.
whatever you do have faith in your self and in God.

Nope, there's nothing wrong about it. It is every muslims duty to seek out knowledge ya know.
You can study it, but as a muslim, you don't follow any culture, you follow the culture of Islam. (Seriously, like that sick pakistani culture of raping women isn't Islam, that's pakistani).
