How much does it cost? Should I buy the pocket size or normal or big sizes?

The Catholic Church uses the New American Bible. It is a formal equivalence translation so it is not only reliable but also accurate. It is the most widely used version today because the Catholic Church is the biggest Christian church.

Grace and peace to you!

That question is highly debatable. The UBS 4 is generally considered by scholors to be the most accurate rendition of the New Testament, but it's available only in Greek.

Translations are made to reflect the opinions of the people funding the effort. (it costs about $1 million to translate the Bible) So the idea that one is better than another depends on your views.

Most major Christian religions have a translation that they prefer. If you aren't affiliated with any particual denomination, I would suggest buying a parallel Bible (a bible that has multiple translations printed side by side for comparison) and researching the various opinions regarding the differences in translations.

You could also learn New Testament Greek, which is easier than you may think, and read the UBS 4.

***ADDITIONAL***

I see that many people have suggested the King James. The KJ was translated from the Textus Receptus, which is generally regarded as one of the LEAST reliable texts. As a result, the KJ contains dozens of errors and scholars generally regard it as a highly unreliable text.

Also, the KJ is NOT the basis for other modern translations (USB 4 is) and it was NOT the first English translation of the scriptures. (that would be the Wesleyan Geneva Bible)

It really depends on what the pastor of the church teaches from. I would suggest a Bible that has the King James and NIV next to each other. Both are dependable translations and compliment each other while studying.

the original king james version is what all the modern bibles have been written from. this is the first published in english. it uses the beautiful poetic language. pretty much all book stores would stock it. alternatively you can ask at your local church. they are not all that expensive. any size is fine, but make sure it contains the whole bible, as some of the compact ones are missing parts.
hope that helps, and happy reading. its my favorite book!

There are more than 2,000 versions of bible in this world.

Seventh Day Adventists and Jehovah's Witnesses.
First Roman Catholic Bible was published at Rheims in 1582.
Second one published at Douay in 1609.
These called RCV version of Bible.
The Protestants regarded 7 books as ‘apocrypha’ (doubtful authority) and removed them from Bible.
(The Book of Judith
The Book of Tobias
The Book of Baruch
The Buck of Esther, etc. )
Jesus pbuh said in the book of Revelation Chapter 22 Verse 18-19 ". . . If any man shall add to these things (or delete) God shall add unto him the plagues written in this Book."

I think the most widely used bible is the King James, and you can pick one up for under 10.00, and even get one for free on-line, just google "free bible"
