They're not "prisoners of war", they're enemy combatants. And they're not tortured at Gitmo. We have extraordinary rendition, so the torture is outsourced. My Lai was not sanctioned by the US government, but was the act of a rogue officer (who was court-martialed and jailed). Any civilian deaths in Iraq are purely collateral damage.
Sounds like you have alot to learn.

They are in a position to do this purely because they are right
to be in Iraq, there is no excuse for the islamic and Arab
communities involved in the war against the west, as well as
each other in Iraq to continue this fight, as only innocent
people are being killed now....
They have a right to send terrorists to wherever they like,
to hell if need be, if you set off a bomb kill innocent people
and live it is a shame, because if you kill, then you deserve
to be jailed..................................................................................
It is not true to call colonialism a war against peoples of another
colour, as they did a lot of good things in the countrys that they
colonised, and all this other stuff is just racist bolony against
whites in general...........................................................................
Now the thing about Ireland, Ireland is at peace now, they
spent many years keeping the peace there and a lot of
people as well as British soldiers died doing this, so if
you want to look at this thing in its entirity you need to
go back to what the other choices would have been...................
There were two sides involved in Ireland, as there are
in Iraq, and once they sat down and came to an agreement
only then the fighting stopped......................................................
Now, to the Australian situation, there were massively strange
things done in those times, but they are resolving this now
and everyone in Australia has equal rights, even though there
are the odd riots now and then, they do have equal rights
under the law................................................................................
The boers, they were fighting a war, and it is a shame that they
were not on the same side as the Boers, as they are and were
responsible for the loss of lives of a great deal of them in both
the concentration camps as well as in that war, they the Boers
are and were an excellent and intelligent people, who they
should have agreed with and not fought as they are now joined
with them aka...the European Union.............................................
There was a similiar situation in India, we could go into the
colonianism thing again and hash it all up, but, India suffers
from the same problems due not to colonianism but, two
sides who will not agree due to Religion as well as differences
in cultures, within their communities, as in most places this
has still not been fully resolved, so blaming the US and the
UK is what it is, just an excuse not to solve your own problems...
The UK and US have good human rights records within their
countries, and they need to also say the same for Australia
and the western world, leaders in the developing world, need
to stop playing the blame game, and resolve the main issues
poverty, differences, etc.etc.etc.

Actually, the current US administration has been rather silent on human rights; perhaps it is not quite brazen enough to talk about the 'h' word when it is illegally detaining prisoners of war in off-shore facilities and permitting them to be tortured by foreign governments. Bush and Co. prefer to talk about 'democracy', which a sufficiently flexible term to accommodate their flexible moral convicttions.
I think its a little unfair to dredge up historical complaints against the US and the UK. Better to focus on what's going wrong now and to hold those responsible to account.
(BTW, Simone's comments above are so amusingly ill-informed that I really don't know where to start correcting them. Shouldn't you be in school?)

simone-YOU GO GIRL!!!
The US and UK are the big brothers to the world. All of you badmouthing the US being in Iraq should remember or maybe look up (as you are all terribly uninformed or just wrong) the mortar attack on a girls school in Iraq where 25 young girls were killed or wounded ( I believe 5 Killed).
These people need our help or they will simply kill each other. They do not value human life like we do. That is why folks like ya'all are allowed to continue spewing these false half-truths.
There is NO torture at GITMO!!!!!!

Because they, more than any other, know what human wrongs are. They've practiced it for so long. Just review their histories.
